At 8.00am the rocket was launched to announce the shotgun start of the Four Nations round 1 held on Sunday 23rd October. As always it was well supported with some very good scores being carded, results for the accumulation scores were taken from the top 15 cards.

After round 1 the positions for the Nations are:

1st place - Wales (575 pts); 2nd place - Scotland (558 pts); 3rd place - Ireland (543 pts) and 4th place to England (524 pts)

 AVON TIMBER

9 HOLE PAR 3 CHAMPIONSHIP

The Inaugural Avon Timber Par 3 Championship final took place on Friday 16th September, with the  rocket signalling the commencement of the shotgun competition got underway.  Qualifying rounds took place during August in readiness for the final which was well supported.  Thank you to the sponsors of the competition Avon Timber.

A big thank you from the Captains of Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club for taking part.in the Rumble, a total of £216.00 was raised towards the Captains Charity : The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. 

Congratulations to the Winners of the 2011 Captain's Charity Rumble played on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th August.  The winning team of Suresh Patel, Paul Quinn, Richard Marklow and Denis Secher carded a score of 111 points.

Second place went to the team of Will Smith, Harry Smith, Wayne Brown & Tom Joyce with 108 points.

1987 FA CUP WINNERS STRIKE AGAIN

The 6th Annual Johnny Reay Charity Golf Day, hosted at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club, Warwickshire on Thursday 4th August, in aid of Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, raised a whopping £14,501.00 on the day. 

With 30 teams taking part, Coventry City 1987 FA Cup Final winners, George Curtis & John Sillett, both members of Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club, put together another dream team including friends John Perkins and Lino Gomez to win with a score of 117 points just pipping Rob Challis of the John Reay Golf Centre and his team of Phil Challis, Wes Butterworth and Mick McGory.                                 .

 Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club, has up to now, raised well over £100,000 for the Children's Hospital.  John Reay, organiser and main sponsor, thanked everyone for their support, and said “even the rain couldn't dampen the day, the support is fantastic, and everyone is always very generous, we look forward to next year’s event on Thursday 2^nd August 2012.

HIGHLAND SHIELD 2011

Over the weekend of 24th & 25th September a total of 65 pairs took part in the Highland Shield competition, which was open to two members or member and guest as a pairs betterball stableford.

Congratulations to to winners Dave Lawrence and Damian Darbey, both members of Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club.

The Marg Morgan Texas Scramble took place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July in glorious summer weather, a total of 23 teams took part over the two days.

Congratulations to the winning team of Neville Gardner, Ron Edmondson (Club Captain), Dave Parsons and Carl Stanford who carded a tremendous score of 53.5.  Runners-up were the team of Colin Knapp, Ray Stringer, Mark Brown (Vice Captain) and Adrian Goodall with a score of 55.1.

The Captains' Day AmAm Stableford and Yellow Ball Competition played on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May was well supported with a total of 26 teams, despite the blowy conditons and rain showers at times there were some very good scores returned.

The winning team with a total score of 95 points was that of Wayne Davis, Gavin Bottrell, Carl Elkerton and Ian Jones.  The ladies team of Kully Wain (Lady Captain), Sally Sparrow, Pauline Dye and Frances Farren were beaten by 1 point with a score of 94 points into second place.  The team taking third place with a total score of 92 points was that of Colin Clark, Simon Thompson, Phil Hughes and Ken Pearson also took the prize for the best Yellow Ball score. 

The Yellow Ball best score was a two-way tie with 43 points, but on a back nine count-back Colin Clark, Simon Thompson, Phil Hughes & Ken Perarson took the prize away from runners-up team of Stuart Bryan, Bob Pursley, Peter Cleary & Norman Joyce.

The 2010 Winter League Finals took place on Sunday 27th February, where a total of 28 pairs took part. Format on the day was a Fourball Betterball Stableford.

Congratulations to the Winners Wayne Brown and Pete Bilic with a score of 49 points.  2nd Place with  46 points were the pairing of Michael Bainton and Terry Brown, followed closely with 45 points Dave Rutley & Lee Thomas. 

Warwickshire Cup - Saturday 19th February

The Stoneleigh team played against our local rivals Coventry Finham in the semi-final of the Warwickshire Cup on Saturday at home.  This is the winter club county knockout and is played over three scratch foursomes matches. Finham brought their strongest side, which included 4 county first team players and two county second team members - their handicaps ranging from +2 to scratch.  So our boys were up against it, but would home advantage count?

The overnight weather was awful and it was still drizzling when the three matches teed off.  The 10 hours of rain also meant the course was also very wet under foot.  Captain Ron Edmondson had decided that our pairings would be:

 1. Will Smith & Steve Woolerton

2. Mark Woolerton & Neville Gardner

3. Chris Dougill & Shaun Young

Things started well for Stoneleigh, but by the turn honours were pretty much even.  With Will and Steve 1 up coming to the 16th tee things were looking good in match 1.  Unfortunately Mark and Nev were hit by a birdie barrage and were looking in trouble in match 2, a game they ended up losing 3&2.  Doogs and Shaun were 3 down with 6 to play but started a comeback. 

 Steve and Will lost the 16th and halved the 17th so were going down the last all square.

 5 winning holes on the trot from Doogs and Shaun saw them win their match 2&1.  Sadly as Shaun held the winning putt, news came that Steve and Will had lost the 18th to lose their game 1 down.  The final results were therefore:

 Will & Steve lost 1 down

Mark & Nev lost 3&2

Chris & Shaun won 2&1

Coventry Finham won by 2 matches to1.  Good luck to Finham in the final, at least we can say that we pushed them close!
