The Stags have hit an unfortunate run of defeats of late, cumulating with the first home defeat of the season against Stratford Oaks. The Stags 3 wins were all comprehensive and although 3 of the other matches went to the 17th or 18th the Stags could not close them out leaving Stratford 5 to 3 winners.

It was a case of a hangover from the previous days Away Day for most of the Stags team in the penultimate away match at Copsewood Grange. Copsewood's tight fairways and undulating greens certainly suited the home team who made up for their defeat at Stoneleigh with a 5 - 2 victory.

This years John Reay Trophy was held at Ingon Manor and the Stags team of Charles McTear (41 pts), Ron Edmondson (39 pts), Ron Maudlin, Bernie Ray, Robin Whitehouse, Brian Churchill, Keith James and The Captain (not many pts !!) did the club proud.

The Stags completed the set of results with a half at Oakridge to go with the win and loss from the 2 previous away matches. On a blustery day the Stags gave a good account of themselves on a course where previous experience is essential.The matches lost were very close with a final putt often being the only difference.

Birstall Golf Club in Leicestershire hosted their Open Ladies AM/AM on Wednesday 21st July, where a team from Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club took part and came away triumphant winners.
