THE STAGS

The Stags were established in 1993 as an integral part of the Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club for members aged 55 or over, retired or semi-retired.  There are currently over 140 members and our main aim is to enjoy our golf in convivial company.  The annual subscription for 2011/12 remains at £5 which now includes automatic entry into the summer and winter Eclectics.  A further £5 gets you entry into the summer & winter Knock-outs.  Enrolment forms are held in the Club office and the Pro Shop.

The Stags Committee is elected annually at our January A.G.M. and, from 1st April 2011, are:

Peter Jamieson                 Stags Captain (& Handicap Secretary)

Frank Rounthwaite            Vice Captain

Martin Rennolds                Immediate Past Captain

John Chard                       Secretary

Mike Lovie                         Treasurer

Richard Parham               Competitions Secretary

Tim Lee                            Committee Member

John Woodward               Committee Member

Full programmes of matches and competitions are organised for summer and winter and include home and away matches with ten local Clubs, matches with the Ladies and Junior Sections, Away-Days and various trophy competitions.  Most weeks there is a Stableford or Medal competition, usually held on Monday and Tuesday throughout the summer, and these are varied with the occasional Pairs Better Ball, Texas Scramble or other interesting competition format.  Add to these the singles and pairs Knock-out competitions and the Winter League and you should find something to interest every player throughout the year.

Members are encouraged to participate in the main Club competitions and to support the various social functions arranged during the year.  Our fun competition followed by Christmas Lunch is always popular and we hold an annual Stags Dinner with our ladies and guests every March.

Stags may be found playing any weekday and should new members wish to join in they will usually find company around the Pro Shop between 8am and 9.30am.  Mondays and Tuesdays are the normal Stags competition days and entry for these is via the Pro Shop.  There is a special Stags notice board in the men’s changing room displaying information, competition forms and news about the Stags section.
