THE STAGS

The 'Stags' were established in 1993 as an integral part of the Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club, for members aged 55 or over, retired or semi-retired. There are currently over 130 members and our aim is to enjoy our golf in convivial company. The annual subscription for 2010/11 remains at £5. A further £5 gets you entry into the summer & winter knock outs and eclectics. Enrolment forms are held in the club office and the Pro Shop.

From 1st April 2010,  the 'Stags' Committee, which is elected annually, is:-

  • Martin Rennolds - Captain
  • Peter Jamieson - Vice Captain
  • Tim Lee -  Immediate Past Captain
  • John Chard - Secretary
  • Mike Lovie - Treasurer
  • Richard Parham - Competition Secretary
  • Don Hounslow - Handicap Secretary
  • John Woodward - Committee Member

The 'Stags' A.G.M. is held yearly, the next one being on Monday 10th January 2011. The Committee produces a Newsletter twice yearly in Spring and Autumn to draw attention to items of ‘Stags’ interest at the start and end of the main golfing season.

Full programmes of matches and competitions are organised for Summer and Winter and include, home and away matches with ten local Clubs, matches with the Ladies and Junior Sections, weekly medal and Stableford competitions, usually played on Mon/Tues. during the Summer, Singles and Pairs competitions, away days and a full winter programme.

Members are encouraged to participate in the main Club competitions and support the various social functions arranged during the year. We hold an annual dinner with our Ladies and a fun competition and Christmas Lunch.

'Stags' play all weekdays and should new members wish to join in they will always find company around the pro shop between 8 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays are our normal Stags competition days and entry for these is via the Pro Shop. There is a special Stags notice board in the men's changing room where information and news about the Stags section may be found.
