Superstar Tom Charley finishes runner up in U14 English Championship
Young superstar Tom Charley played in the REID trophy which was played over 3 days 6th, 7th, 8th of August at North Hants golf club in Hampshire. This is the English U14 boys Championship which is played over 54 holes of stroke play. One round of 18 holes where played on each of the first two days. After 36 holes the leading 70 players and those tying for 70th place played a further 18 holes on the third day.
Players from all over the UK also across Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and the USA were represented. 144 players in total played in the event after a ballot.
Tom Charley finished runner-up on 216 after three rounds of 72 off a handicap of five. He is now playing of 3.5. He has made history by becoming the first junior in Warwickshire to finish in the top two of the event since it has started. Tom has now got two exemptions firstly the McGregor U16 Championship which is played next year and the North of England U16 Championship the end of August. This is a very Big Achievement!
