Return to Competition Overview
The Annual Four Nations competition took place on Monday September 14th. 40 players took part in 4 teams of 10, supposedly, as some players registered for more than 1 country (is that called dual nationality?) on a course which is still showing the ravages of the drought, everyone praised the quality of the greens however, and praise must go to the Green staff for their efforts in challenging circumstances.
There was an erroneous announcement of Wales as the victors, however after a recount, from a victorious position they fell to valiant losers.
This left Scotland and England in joint first place on 230 points. Unfortunately there has to be a winner and after some discussion it was decided that the aggregate score of the the best three scores from each team should decide first place.
This left Scotland as the the top team, so congratulations to Scotland led by Peter Jamieson. Commiserations to England on a very closely fought match.
The scores were:
1. Scotland 230 points (best three 106)
2. England 230 poiints (best three 104)
3. Ireland 228 points
4. Wales 214 points
The overall best score was a 39 points by Keith Clarke, whose name has been noted by the Handicap Secretary who Captained a different team.
