The Juniors v. Stags Match - Thursday 23rd July 2009

Although the weather was not too good, the Stags match against the Juniors was enjoyed by everyone, even the dozen hapless volunteers in the Stags team, who feared they would be soundly trounced just like in previous years!  Actually the Stags did quite well, losing 3 1/2 to 2 1/2, and the game between the two Captains and their partners was pretty close, with the youngsters going dormie at the 17th and clinching the win at the 18th.   Juniors Captain, Johnny Reay, was pleased with his team's performance but praised the fighting spirit of the old-timers.  Tim Lee, the Stags Captain, said that even missing his vital putt at the 17th did not detract from the pleasure of playing in the company of the young golfers.

"Down the middle, close or on the green for 2, deadly chipping and fearless putting. Oh to be young again!" he commented.
