MESSAGE FROM YOUR CAPTAIN
As your Captain Mark Brown, I would like to take this opportunity to offer you all a warm welcome for the 2012-13 coming season.
Stoneleigh members are noted for their friendliness, witty sense of humour and for always being ‘game for a laugh’. Funnily enough, they are exactly the same when it comes to a round of golf...... and in the bar afterwards.
If you play off scratch or are a 28 handicapper, golf at Stoneleigh is open to everyone on a level playing field, meaning you can enjoy a round with your friends even if they are a lot more practiced than you are!
Whether it’s just one round or an all-out itinerary, the buddies you take or the ones you make at Stoneleigh are friends for life.
Our competition programme at Stoneleigh commences from April and runs right through to March 2013, with competitions available for you to participate in most weekends,whether it be individual, pairs or team format. All new members are welcome to join in the competions and fun golf too!!! During the winter months there is a pairs winter league programme for you to join in too, if you so wish!! Keep an 'eye' on the notice boards, our website and calendar for both upcoming competitions as well as the social events planned throughout the year.
Our captains’ chosen charity for this year is the STARLIGHT Children’s Foundation. Starlight grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children. Every year Starlight’s entertainment and play programmes also benefit over half a million children every year in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Starlight wishes can cost anything from £100 for a child who wants to meet their favourite celebrity to £500 for a laptop to several thousands for an overseas adventure like swimming with dolphins. The average cost of a wish is £3,325 and every donation, however small or large, brings a sick child’s wish closer to being granted. Starlight receives neither government nor National Lottery funding and is totally reliant on donations from people like us.
It is with all of this in mind that I would like to wish you all a successful and fun year of golf ahead at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club.
