WARWICKSHIRE YOUNG MASTERS TOURNAMENT
The 9th WYM took place on 29th May. 41 Entries were received (with 15 coming from Leamington & County G.C.) thus proving that May is a better time of year than the old Easter slot. The weather could have been a little kinder although the rain held off for most of the day and the children were undeterred in their enthusiasm.
Graham Hayes, the President of the Warwickshire Union Of Golf Clubs, was present, as were various other County Officials, who were most impressed by the standard of play and always see the Tournament as a stepping stone for youngsters into future County selection.
The overall Winner was Kirtus Grimmett, Rugby Golf Club, with a score of 61 for the 18 Holes of the Par Three Course. Anant Gill, The Warwickshire G.C. won the 9 - 11 Age Group and Rupert Beaumont, Finham G.C., won the Aged 8 and Under Section. Phoebe Machin, Kenilworth G.C. won the Cup for the Best Girl, following in the footsteps of big sister Amelia, who won the Cup last year. Val Steene, County Treasurer, WLCGA presented the Cup to her along with Vouchers for 2nd and 3rd places. Graham Hayes presented all the Boys prizes.
The Entrants numbered quite a few newcomers to the Competition. We hope they enjoyed the day and will enter again next year.
