Captains Drive In 2017

The 2017 season at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club began on Saturday 1st April after the Captains vs Vice Captains Challenge. when the Captains for 2016: Mark Woolerton, Shirley Proctor, Mick Lloyd and Joe Parham putted out on the 9th hole to end their year of office.

Stoneleigh's 2017 season began with the traditional 'Drive In' off the 1st tee, by the incoming Captains all wearing some amazing fancy dress outfits!

'The Donkey' from Shrek was Kevin Ariss (Club Captain), Ann Lloyd (Lady Captain) was dressed as the 'Court Jester', Mike Gilbey (Stags Captain) as the 'Scarecrow' and Joe Parham (Junior Captain) .

After the 'Putt Out' and 'Drive In' the new Captains were introduced to the members and guests in the Clubhouse, where they were presented with the traditional Green Captain's jackets.

The 2016 Captains announced their fundraising for 2016, the grand total raised was £7672.35 for Multiple Sclerosis Society and they thanked everyone for their support.

The Captains charities chosen for the 2017 season is Motor Neurone Disease Association & The Pam Britton Trust For Dementia, we hope you will support generously again this year for these two fantastic charities

Captains Drive In 2016

The 2016 season at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club began on Saturday 2nd April after the Captains vs Vice Captains Challenge. when the Captains for 2015: Graham Murdoch, Sheila Rennolds and James Moriarty putted out on the 9th hole to end their year of office.

Stoneleigh's 25th Anniversary season began with the traditional 'Drive In' off the 1st tee by the incoming Captains all wearing fancy dress.

'Mr Blobby' was Mark Woolerton (Club Captain), Shirley Proctor (Lady Captain) was dressed as the 'Queen of Hearts', Mick Lloyd  (Stags Captain) as the 'Mad Hatter' and Joe Parham (Junior Captain)  was dressed as a West Ham footballer.

After the 'Putt Out' and 'Drive In' the new Captains were introduced to the members and guests in the Clubhouse, where they were presented with the traditional Green Captain's jackets.

The 2015 Captains announced their fundraising for 2015 raised a total of £5,851.44p for Macmillan Cancer Support and  thanked everyone for their support.

The Captains charity chosen for the 2016 season is MS Multiple Sclerosis Society, we hope you will support generously this year.

The 2015 season at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club began on Saturday 28th March when the Captains for 2014, Ken Wykes, Kully Wain, Mike Lovie and Harry Smith putted out on the 9th hole to end their year of office.

The incoming Captains for 2015, Graham Murdoch, Sheila Rennolds, Paul Turner and James Moriarty were introduced to the members in the club tradition of wearing an appropriate fancy dress.  Followed by each Captain Driving the ball off the 1st tee.

The 2014 Captains presented a cheque to Anita Burrows for the sum of £13,550.00 raised for Myton Hospice.

The Captains charity chosen for the 2015 season is Macmillan Cancer Support, which will be used locally.

The Annual Captains v Vice Captains Challenge finished with the Captain’s Ken Wykes team  beating Vice Captain Graham Murdoch's Team  by 32 points with a score of 653 points to 621 points. The winning pair from Ken's team were Simon Roberts and Jon Howe (45 points) and from Graham's team were John McDonagh and Reg Dann with 41points

The 2014 season at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club began on Saturday 29th March when the Captains for 2013, Richard Clayton, Linda Edmondson, Charles McTear and Adam Thomas  putted out on the 9th hole to end their year of office.

The incoming Captains for 2014, Ken Wykes, Kully Wain, Mike Lovie and Harry Smith  were introduced to the members in the club tradition of wearing an appropriate fancy dress.  Followed by each Captain Driving the ball off the 1st tee.

The 2013 Captains presented a cheque for the sum of £6,155 raised for Cancer Research UK .

The Captains charity chosen for the 2014 season is Myton Hospice, which will be used locally.

The Annual Captains v Vice Captains Challenge finished with the Captain’s Richard Clayton team  beating Vice Captain Ken Wykes's Team  by 13 points with a score of 583 points to 570 points. The winning pair from Richard's team were Tom Joyce and Roy Sturmey (45 points) and from Ken's team were Nev Gardner and Lee Thomas with 43 points

The 2013 season at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club began on 6th April when the Captains for 2012, Mark Brown, Chris Britton, Ben Charley, Frank Rounthwaite putted out on the 9th hole to end their year of office.

The incoming Captains Richard Clayton, Linda Edmondson, Charles McTear and Adam Thomas were introduced to the members in the club tradition of wearing an appropriate fancy dress.  Followed by each Captain Driving the ball off the 1st tee.

The 2012 Captains presented to Jo  Castleton a cheque for the sum of £10,600 raised for Starlight Children’s Foundation Charity.

The Captains charity chosen for the 2013 season is Cancer Research UK, which will be used locally.

The Annual Captains v Vice Captains Challenge finished with the Captain’s Mark Brown’s team (Brownie’s Bunch) beating Richard Clayton’s Team (Rich’s Raiders) by 3 points with a score of 740 points to 737 points. The winning pair from Brownie’s Bunch were Stuart Bryan and Julian Box and from Rich’s Raiders were Mark Thorne and Lee Callender bit with 47 points.
