The Stags Christmas competition, a one club mystery comp held on the Par three course took place on the Monday 3rd December. Fourteen teams of three started the competition but shortly after a mild drizzle started a group of nine wimpy Stags left to go back to the safety and warmth of the Club House. The remaining Stags battled with some adverse weather conditions to finish the competition. The team with the highest score won vouchers for turning up and the winning team took home a magnificent voucher each. The highest scoring team were Gentleman Jim Jobson, Rodders Pickering and Mick the hip Lovie. The winning team by a margin of two shots were Robin Whitehouse, Ron McNally and Roy Walker. Well played to them.
The lunch was good and enjoyed by all and the presentation of the trophies were presented by the Vice Captain Paul Steward, getting in a bit of practice before his stint next year. Notable mentions are the winnner of the Tasker Shield for the best performance during the summer season in all competitions , the effective golfer of the year which this year was won by Ron Maudlin and the most improved golfer of the year for the whole club which was won by Colin Yapp, probably a first for the Stags section.
